Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do to stay healthy. Most of us are dehydrated and don’t even realize it. If you didn’t have enough water to flush your toilet, it would soon overrun with toxic substances. The same is true in your body. Without enough water, your lymph system cannot clear toxins from the cells, nor can we properly illuminate those toxins through our kidneys, liver and digestive tract. The whole body gets backed up. When we are dehydrated we tend to get anxious, stressed out, depressed, experience pain and achiness, and often times think we are hungry so we reach for more food to eat when we really don’t need it. By the time we actually register that we are thirsty, we are long past dehydration. Our bodies can be trained to recognize thirst on a regular basis. Set the timer on your phone for 40 minutes, and then drink 3 to 5 gulps of water at the sound of the beep. Repeat that all day long. It takes about 3 to 4 weeks to train your body to recognize that it needs to take a bit of water about every 40 minutes. If you do this, you will develop an automatic habit that will keep your body healthy and is well worth the effort.
